Hello, and thanks for lookingYou are bidding on an Old Dutch Brand Lager Beer can from Brooklyn, NY. This an IRTP can with opening instructions, listed in USBC as 105-35 and in USBC-OI as 599Note: This beer can is empty. It is offered as a collectible container onlyCondition: This can is very clean, with excellent colors, and retains the original shine. The can does have minor imperfections as shown - a few small dings in the backside and some light scratches, most notably the one left of the windmill. The top lid was added at some point. Virtually all known high grade examples of this can came from a 1970's find of lidless cans. The cans give the appearance of having been used as drinking mugs rather than having been filled, lidded and sold. There is no evidence of a handle being attached removed on cans from this find, and no gear marks or opener scratches indicating a lid was Insured Priority Mail shipping is free. I'm currently shipping to only the lower 48 statesReturns: I strive to grade items accurately and to provide good photographs, but I will accept returns if you are unhappy with your purchaseBCCA #27810Rusty Bunch #353

Old & rusty & heavily touched up.....but it's real! Still solid & without dents.....Out of the Dan Castleman collection of years ago. It's a rare can to be sure!
Kind of a tragic tale on this rare can, with a semi happy ending. I bought this can online knowing it was coated in lacquer or varnish. The pictures looked great, but when the can arrived it was ENCASED in an orange varnish that looked worse in person than in photos. The coating was so thick that it reminded me of an olive drab can. Hard to read and define on the shelf. I began consulting with a well known Rusty Bunch member to try to safely remove the coating. Pictures 2 and 3 are REALLY hard to look at - the white sections were caused by using Dawn liquid soap and a soft rag. So that experiment failed and ruined the back portion of the can. Heartbreaking. I sent the can to California to the Rusty Buncher and he tried and tested Acetone and a couple of other things to try to remove the orange coating (which is still visible on the lids). Long story short, he didn't think it could be removed and did not want to chance it. I got the can back and started using very fine 400 grit sandpaper and started liking the results! I was very careful and took my time. Eventually, the color began to come back and the coating actually was peeling off too. I was happy because it looked much better on the shelf. Before, you could barely read the label. There were 2 or 3 spots where I got to bare metal, like the size of a b.b.. One spot was to the left of the Gabrinus figure and one was in the white line pattern. I'm not a fan of touching up a can, but the light was hitting the bare metal of the can which was distracting and annoying. So there is a tiny bit of touch up in 2 or 3 spots. Maybe no one will be interested in this rare can, but every time I look at it, I have such a rollercoaster of emotions about the whole process. Sorry for a very long winded explanation. I think the can will make someone very happy (as long as they keep it on the shelf and not take it down) See photos for condition. Shipping is $10. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
